Our bodies need to be in a relatively alkaline state with a pH scale of anything above 7 to stay healthy.
Although diet doesn’t directly affect our bodies’ pH levels, the alkaline diet does encourage intake of water-dense fruit and vegetables, all of which have a ton of health benefits.
This warm avo and quinoa salad is full of alkaline foods and is ready in just 20 minutes, perfect for a quick week night dinner or work lunch when you haven’t had the time or drive to prep a meal:
4 ripe avocados, peeled and quartered
1 cup quinoa
1 x 410g tin chickpeas, drained
Cook the quinoa by placing 1 cup quinoa in a pot with 2 cups water, bring to the boil, reduce heat to a simmer, then cover and cook for 12 minutes until liquid has evaporated, fluff with a fork and the grains should be swollen and glassy.
Toss all the ingredients together, season with sea salt and black pepper, and serve warm with lemon wedges and olive oil.
To help your body maintain an acid-alkaline balance and help regulate urinary pH, consider taking Releaf Alkaline Tablets, which may act as an antacid that could help promote the relief of discomforts caused by heartburn, excessive stomach acid and acid indigestion.
