With the end of the year comes a never-ending string of celebrations that always seem to involve one-too-many Lindt balls and glasses of bubbly. That’s as it should be, it’s holiday time after all.

However, with all these pleasures comes the displeasure of bloating and a stretched-out pair of sweatpants.

Here are a couple of magical and medicinal spices and debloating teas to arm your bloated belly with, this coming festive season:

If you regularly suffer from bloating, try sipping on warm cumin-seed water before eating a rich meal.

Add a heaped teaspoon of cumin to hot water, let it steep for 10 minutes and then sip on it slowly to help stimulate digestion.

After eating, chew on about half a teaspoon of fennel seeds or sip on a hot cup of fennel tea to alleviate gas build up.

You may have heard of turmeric’s anti-inflammatory properties, but does turmeric debloat? The answer is “Absolutely!” Add this magic golden spice to marinades, soups or curries to help soothe inflammation and bloating.

To further help relieve pain and inflammation, take Releaf Curcumin 185 – an active ingredient of turmeric that gives the spice its numerous health benefits – which is a powerful antioxidant that is 185 times more bioavailable than standard Curcumin extract and as such, could help soothe pain and inflammation.

Chew on about half a teaspoon caraway seeds or a sip a hot cup of caraway tea to reduce bloating after a meal.

To help fire up digestion, try adding a kick of spice like cayenne pepper to your food.

A low-key super-root, ginger is excellent for the alleviation of bloat. Add some to a cup of black tea or even chew on a fresh bit to help reduce any additional post-meal bloat.

To boost your ginger intake, take Releaf African Ginger, a product of natural origin that is a traditional African medicine that has antihistaminic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activity.

To help repopulate your gut with healthy bacteria, take Releaf Probiotic 12-Strain or Releaf Probiotic Melt 12-strain, which contain a combination of 12 probiotic strains that may assist in improving or normalising the microbial balance in the human intestines and thereby the functioning of the digestive tract/gut.
